10 years ago today I posted my first photographs in the original Sanslartigue. You can click here to see that very first post.
Here are the first two photographs, both from my phone at the time, an iPhone 3G, and processed with the Camera + app. For those of you who have found the link to my Instagram below, you’ve seen that I graduated to a first generation iPhone SE and processing in Snapseed. Both the original Sanslartigue and the current version include photographs from phones, film cameras, a variety of Canon and Fuji digital cameras, plus occasional scanned photos taken by my father and grandfather.
During a trip to Spain that Spring of 2011, my wife and I had visited an exhibit of Jacques Henri Lartigue’s photo albums at the Caixa Forum in Madrid. I came away from that exhibit with the need to create and share albums of my photos, and decided that a photo blog might suit that need, and Sanslartigue was born. I don’t think I had any idea that I’d still be posting photos for each day 10 years later. As noted in the About page, I’ve been taking photos for 60 years, and the subjects range from travel to architecture to construction to landscape to street photography.

Thanks David. Your photos are something I look forward to each day. I hope that I will be seeing them for another ten years +.

Okay. Once again I have a terrible confession to make. I hadn’t previously been aware of your photography. I am a hyper distracted married husband living in the big city. I’m in charge of the cooking. Okay, I have no excuse. Your mention of an image in your comment on my post today led me to look at your blog.
And now I love your photographs and will look forward to seeing them every day.
The thing is, I remember mentioning to you so long ago that I loved Jacques Henri Lartigue and your response led me to believe that there was no connection in the name of your blog to this great photographer that obviously we both share a love for.
But I’m not awake yet so don’t hold me to anything I’ve said in this comment. I need coffee and some eyewash. Lovely images, and great writing, David. So grateful to know you and your work.
